Aster Campaign Session 4

Guard Captain Ritssler (Jason Statham) arrives at the gate and scolds the guard who detained the party. He offers to escort the party to King Agrilus to report their findings, but the party needs an hour to investigate Ketri’s workshop to ask about the gnome spy Agamon.  The party points out the evidence points strongly towards Agamon and possibly Ketri being involved in the theft, so she tries to be helpful. Ketri was expecting her cousin Agamon back a week ago from a month-long trip to moonstair for crafting supplies. She suspects he bunked off as he is a bit of a slacker. He definitely did not have the ability to craft a construct like the bird. Ketri says she didn’t craft it but could examine it if they brought it. She says Agamon has a key to the external cellar, which they investigate. Nagwen spots a well-hidden teleport circle , which is apparently news to Ketri, and a cubby next to it that smells faintly of animal fur. They also see some adamantine rods that Sengo pilfers a...

Aster Campaign Session 3

That night, the party meets their old friend Sengo in the eating hall of the dwarven stronghold. (Actually Julius and Valrick are the only characters that know him from Barovia). Sengo was hunting down the two remaining night hags in Barovia and had tracked them to this plane. He exited the Astral plane 1000 feet up like the party did, but unlike them he had no spell to fly, and would have died if not found by dwarves who saw him fall and brought him back to the stronghold to recuperate. While he catches up with the party, the Dwarven wizard Satrogur from the stronghold overhears and offers to cast See Invisible for them. Sengo has Tiny Hut, which should protect them, unless a hag happened in the Ethereal plane to be next to them when he casts it. Ix swaps a spell with Satrogur to get See Invisible. When casting the spells that night, the wizard spots some astral squids that had latched on to Ix, and blasts them off! They clear the area and cast Tiny Hut. The next morning, everyo...

Aster Campaign Session 2

They investigate the King’s chambers, and the King shows them the bag of holding where he keeps his valuables for easy access. It is empty, and non-magical. The sharp eye of Teren catches a small slit made on the inside of the bag along a seam. King Agrilus recalls that he was recently given a gift of a magical bird construct for sending messages to his daughter. He didn’t like the way it was looking at him as he slept, so he put it in the bag too. His eyes blaze. It was a gift from the dwarven envoy Peronna! That must be it! Upon hearing this, Command Wintrope says he will send the army to tear apart the dwarven stronghold, just as the King’s grandfather did. The party informs them that the items are not currently on this plane and that such a move would be hasty without finding more information. Perhaps sending the players to investigate first would be wise. The Commander muses “A targeted strike force eh?” The King says “That may be best, for now. You have 4 days before I send ...

Aster Campaign Session 1

After freeing the lands of Barovia from the rule of Strahd and also trapping the vestige of the dark god Vampyr in the Amber Temple, Julius the roguish Cleric and Valrick the Ax-gnome (with Bill the axolotl) set off in search of more adventure. They are joined by the half-elven Ix, a powerful Sorcerer-Wizard who was also trapped in Barovia by Strahd’s mists. Ix thinks he would surely have defeated Strahd himself, given just a bit more time. Time will tell whether this is just a vain boast… The mists surrounding Barovia are no longer dark and cloying. Striding through the silvery mists, the group finds themselves suddenly weightless. The mists disperse and they are left floating in void, surrounded by far-off glowing clouds, and pin-pricks of light. Looking at each other, they realise that they are all now softly glowing in fractals of ever-changing colour. Behind them, a silvery pool vanishes. They are in the Astral plane. Thought creates gravity, allowing them to move. There is no nee...
